Join the founding board
We are appointing an independent chair and independent non-executive directors to govern DSI 001 and the recognition of the assessors who apply it.
Decision Standards Institute Ltd (ACN 699 264 376) is a public company limited by guarantee that publishes and governs DSI 001, a system-level governance standard for autonomous systems. It does not assess, and it does not prepare.
We are building the Institute's founding board. The founder continues as a director, and we are appointing an independent chair and several independent non-executive directors to form an independent majority.
A standard is only worth relying on if those who govern it are independent of those who profit from it.

Independent non-executive chair
The chair leads the board and anchors the Institute's independence. The chair holds authority over impartiality and conflict decisions, oversees the impartiality function as it is established, and represents the standard to regulators, authorisation bodies and institutional markets.
What we are looking for
- Experience chairing a board, ideally of a standards, assurance, regulatory or professional body.
- Credibility across one or more of conformity assessment and authorisation, AI and technology governance, insurance, or financial-services regulation.
- The standing to lead a young standards body through authorisation and growth.
- Independence from the commercial entities in the DSI ecosystem, and from the founder.

Independent non-executive directors
We are appointing several independent non-executive directors to oversee the standard and the scheme, contribute specialist expertise, and serve on the audit and risk and impartiality committees as they form.
- Conformity assessment, authorisation and standards development.
- Audit, finance and assurance, with the capability to chair audit and risk.
- Insurance and underwriting.
- AI and autonomous-systems governance, and technology risk.
These are independent roles. You must be independent of the entities that operate commercially within the DSI ecosystem, including the assessor and the product and education companies in the associated holding group, and of the founder.
Commitment, term and remuneration
- The board meets monthly during the Institute's establishment phase, moving to at least quarterly, with occasional phone check-ins between meetings.
- Directors commit about half a day for each board meeting, plus preparation; the chair somewhat more.
- Appointments are for an initial three-year term, renewable by agreement, subject to the constitution.
- These are non-remunerated appointments at this stage, with reasonable out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed.
